On May 28, Mr. Eduardo Silva Toledo, Chief of the Office of the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil, Mr. Pedro Romariz Peixoto, Vice Consul of the Brazilian Consulate General in Shanghai, and Ms. Ji Lin, Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Brazilian Consulate General in Shanghai, visited KoGuan School of Law of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The delegation was warmly received by Professor Peng Chengxin, Dean of KoGuan School of Law and Distinguished Professor of SJTU; Professor Yang Li, Executive Dean of the Institute for Smart Justice of SJTU and Distinguished Professor; Associate Professor Zhang Guobin, Assistant Dean of KoGuan School of Law; and Tao Lina, Affairs Supervisor of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges of SJTU. The two sides held friendly talks.
Prior to the talks, Professor Yang Li accompanied the delegation from the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil to visit the Smart Justice Laboratory of SJTU, introducing the laboratory's scientific research innovations and industry-research transformation applications in the interdisciplinary field of law and technology.
Dean Peng Chengxin first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil, introducing the history of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the history of KoGuan School of Law, and sharing the development and achievements of the School in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, social cooperation and other aspects.
Professor Yang Li introduced the development, research characteristics and latest achievements of the Institute for Smart Justice, and demonstrated the latest research and development achievements in digital court scenarios such as digital court trials, intelligent assistance for reasoned judgment documents, paperless full-process enforcement, electronic file quality review, and trial trend prediction. At the same time, he introduced innovative explorations in more scenarios where scientific research innovations empower social governance and foreign-related rule of law.
Mr. Eduardo Silva Toledo, Chief of the Office of the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil, highly praised the historical development and academic achievements of KoGuan School of Law of SJTU and the Institute for Smart Justice, saying that they left a deep impression. In addition, Mr. Toledo introduced the development of judicial technology in Brazil and the innovative application of artificial intelligence in the judicial field.
The two sides had in-depth exchanges and talks on cooperation between China and Brazil in the field of judicial technology, focusing on serving enterprises, carrying out international cooperation at the level of legal institutions and judicial organs, and the application and implementation of scientific research achievements. At the same time, they expressed their willingness to carry out extensive cooperation with each other.
