On July 2, 2026, a delegation from the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), including Associate Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Fang Quan, Assistant Dean Professor Yi Zaicheng, Program Directors Mu Xiaobo and Zhou Ting, and faculty representative Chen Qin, visited the KoGuan School of Law at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Dean of KoGuan School of Law Professor Peng Chengxin, Vice Dean Professor Lin Xifen, Vice Dean Associate Professor Cao Bo, Assistant Dean Associate Professor Zhang Guobin, and Deputy Director of the International Office Yin Lan participated in the discussion and exchange.
        Dean Peng Chengxin extended a warm welcome to the delegation from MUST’s Faculty of Law and introduced the basic situation and development achievements of KoGuan School of Law. He pointed out that the school has a relatively complete disciplinary system and a well-structured team of high-level talents, with the quality of its student intake and graduate employment ranking among the top domestic law schools for many years. Relying on its Smart Justice Laboratory, the school holds certain advantages in the field of digital law and has achieved remarkable scientific research outputs. At the same time, as a national-level base for cultivating foreign-related legal talents, the school continues to deepen research in foreign-related legal studies. Building on its two distinctive strengths in digital rule of law and foreign-related rule of law, the school is very keen to achieve resource complementarity with the Faculty of Law of MUST, and to build a platform for faculty sharing, talent cultivation, and scientific research collaboration centered on artificial intelligence law, thereby nurturing compound legal talents that meet the needs of the country's opening-up.

        Associate Vice Rector Fang Quan expressed gratitude for the warm reception from KoGuan School of Law and introduced the educational characteristics and locational advantages of the MUST Faculty of Law. She noted that the faculty boasts a complete undergraduate, master's, and doctoral training system; houses a co-built intellectual property research base with the Ministry of Education; and leads the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Intellectual Property Law Alliance, bringing together diverse resources from industry, academia, and research. The quality of its graduates is outstanding, with many alumni holding key public service positions in Macau. She expressed the hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to leverage KoGuan School of Law's disciplinary strengths and platform resources in the field of artificial intelligence and the rule of law, to jointly establish a regular mechanism for faculty exchange and course collaboration, and to promote substantive cooperation results between the two schools in AI law talent cultivation, cross-border rule of law research, and industry-academia-research collaborative innovation, thus jointly contributing academic strength to the rule of law construction in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta.
 

        During the discussion, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on inter-school cooperation and unanimously agreed to establish a regular cooperation mechanism. By leveraging the unique locations and complementary legal resources of Shanghai and Macau, and using inter-school cooperation as a bond, they aim to contribute to the high-quality development of academic innovation and talent cultivation in the fields of foreign-related rule of law and digital rule of law.
 

        Following the discussion, the delegation from MUST's Faculty of Law visited the Smart Justice Laboratory of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (a Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory of the Ministry of Education), gaining an in-depth understanding of the laboratory's founding philosophy and operational mechanism, which are dedicated to promoting compound talent cultivation and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, empowering judicial modernization with technology, and contributing a "Chinese solution" for smart justice. The two sides held on-site exchanges on the integrated application of artificial intelligence technology in legal education, judicial practice, and cross-border rule of law research. They unanimously agreed that the laboratory's cutting-edge explorations have laid a solid technical and platform foundation for subsequent in-depth cooperation between the two schools in the field of artificial intelligence law.
