KoGuan School of Law Visited Stanford Law School in the United States and Met with the Alumni of the School

On May 1, Peng Chengxin, Dean of KoGuan School of Law of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a delegation to visit Stanford Law School. This visit is a crucial step in the international cooperation strategy of KoGuan School of Law, aiming to establish closer connections with top law schools in the United States and lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of legal talents specialized in foreign-related affairs. The delegation members include Professor Guo Yanjun, Vice Dean of KoGuan School of Law, Chair Professor Wang Xianlin, Executive Director of the Law Library Yuan Ye, and Deputy Director of the International Office Yin Lan.

Professor George Triantis, Dean of Stanford Law School, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from KoGuan School of Law, and Professor Amalia D. Kessler, Vice Dean in charge of the graduate program, accompanied the meeting.Peng Chengxin expressed heartfelt gratitude to Professor Jenny Martinez, the former Dean of Stanford Law School, for sending a congratulatory letter during the 20th anniversary celebration of KoGuan School of Law and looked forward to broader and deeper cooperation between the two law schools in the future. The two sides exchanged views on the implementation results of the "Koguan-Stanford Scholarship" project, which is supported by the Leo KoGuan Foundation and aims to assist outstanding students of KoGuan School of Law in their further studies at Stanford Law School. The two sides also focused on the cutting-edge hot topics in the current legal field, such as data governance, artificial intelligence and law, and carried out lively and in-depth discussions.

Peng Chengxin also delivered an academic report in English on the topic of "China's Approach to Data Governance: Between Security and Efficiency" for the faculty and students of Stanford Law School. The report focused on the development process of China's data governance framework and deeply explored the balance mechanism between ensuring national security and promoting innovation. After the report, Peng Chengxin had a heated discussion with the audience on topics such as the definition of the legal attributes of personal data, the similarities and differences between the common law system and the civil law system in the path of data governance, and the latest progress in the field of artificial intelligence regulation in China.

During the visit, the delegation had cordial exchanges with Koguan alumni studying at Stanford Law School, showed concern for their study and living conditions, and encouraged them to maintain close contact with their alma mater, give full play to their own advantages, contribute more to the development of the school and the legal exchanges between China and the United States, and make contributions to the cause of foreign-related law with excellent achievements and outstanding performances. This visit not only strengthened the communication and connection between the school and the alumni, but also made the alumni feel the care and support from their alma mater.

The advanced educational concepts and innovative teaching practices of Stanford Law School have brought a lot of inspiration to the development of KoGuan School of Law and provided new ideas and directions for promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two law schools. The exchange visit of KoGuan School of Law to Stanford Law School in the United States and the activity of visiting alumni are of positive and important significance in enhancing the international influence of the school, expanding the space for academic cooperation, and strengthening the cohesion of alumni. In the future, KoGuan School of Law will continue to uphold the concept of "openness, integration, mutual learning and joint progress", continuously expand international exchange channels, and make greater contributions to cultivating legal talents with an international perspective and promoting the development of the legal cause.
