Recently, international students from the LLM Program in Chinese Law, SJD Program and Exchange Program at KoGuan School of Law, led by Associate Professor Wang Jie, visited the Shanghai office of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) at the invitation of Mr. He Fang, a seasoned lawyer specializing in intellectual property rights law. The students hailed were from countries worldwide, including Turkey, Russia, Australia, the United States, Singapore, the Netherlands, Iran, South Korea, Thailand, Bangladesh, Norway, and Pakistan.

The visit offered students a unique opportunity to gain insights into the operation of one of China’s leading law firms. Students were welcomed with an overview of KWM’s history, mission, and international presence. Mr. He highlighted the firm’s role in China’s legal landscape, particularly its contribution to intellectual property rights protection and cross-border legal services. Following this, Mr. He shared practical challenges and opportunities for foreign clients under the Chinese legal system. Students were guided through the firm’s offices, gaining firsthand exposure to the daily operations of a top-tier Chinese law firm.

This visit was part of a series of activities aimed at fostering a deeper connection between international students and the Chinese legal system. The participants gained a more vivid understanding of China’s efforts in building a robust legal framework for foreign-related matters and the remarkable progress of its legal service institutions.
