From October 7th to 8th, 2024, a KoGuan School of Law delegation led by Dean and Professor Peng Chengxin visited Edinburgh Law School and Durham Law School. The purpose of the visit was to further expand the scope of cooperation in cultivating foreign-related legal talents, and to jointly promote legal education with leading British law schools. Deputy Dean and Professor Guo Yanjun, Director of International Law Discipline and Professor Hu Jiaxiang, Assistant Dean and Associate Professor He Juan, and Deputy Director of the International Office Ms Zhang Chenxi participated in this visit.
During the visit, Dean and Professor Volker Roeben, Deputy Dean and Professor Chen Lei, Deputy Head of International Office Mr Richard Lancaster, , and Honorary Professor and former Judge of the Hong Kong High Court Anselmo Reyes from Durham Law School warmly welcomed KoGuan School of Law delegates. Dean Peng Chengxin and Dean Volker Roeben formally signed an LLM dual-degree cooperation agreement. This agreement provides comprehensive reciprocal arrangements for students from both institutions to pursue relevant degrees.
The two sides also reviewed the achievements made since the establishment of the joint overseas education base for cultivating foreign-related legal talents. They highlighted the notable successes in academic research, student development, international cooperation, and cultural exchange. In-depth discussions were held regarding further collaboration in areas such as joint short-term courses on international arbitration, student exchanges, faculty visits, and joint research.
At Edinburgh Law School, the KoGuan School of Law delegation held discussions with Director of Internationalisation and Senior Lecturer Leandro Mancano, Chair in International Law and Global Governance and Professor Andrew Lang, and Student Mobility Coordinator and Lecturer Longjie Lu. These discussions focused on undergraduate student exchange, the establishment of an LLM dual-degree program, faculty exchange visits, and the training of foreign-related legal talents. Both sides explored the establishment of a regular communication mechanism to further enhance interaction and cooperation in the future.
This visit marked an important step in expanding cooperation to cultivate foreign-related legal talents. It strengthened the friendly ties between KoGuan School of Law and law schools in Britain. KoGuan School of Law will continue to maintain close relationships with British law schools, working together in teaching, researching, and internationalization. By deepening cooperation and exchanges, KoGuan School of Law aims to enhance its international reputation and influence, making active contributions to the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents in China.
