Delegation from KoGuan School of Law Visits United Kingdom

On May 23rd to 25th, delegation from KoGuan School of Law visited the United Kingdom with the aim of strengthening cooperation and exchanging ideas with internationally renowned law schools and top institutions in legal education and academic research.

The visiting team, led by the dean of KoGuan School of Law, Professor Peng Chengxin, visited the law schools of the University of Oxford and University College London (UCL), as well as Cambridge University Press, and held two forums for Chinese youth studying in the UK. The visiting team consisted of Dean Peng, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Xie Wei, Professor Hou Liyang, Associate Professor He Juan, and Jiao Yuan from the International Programs Office.

During their visit, on the morning of May 23rd, the visiting group had a cordial and friendly meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford, Mindy Chen, and other key members of the faculty. The meeting was also joined by successor Dean Professor John Armour, Vice-Deans and professors from Oxford law faculty (the Oxford team).

Dean Peng introduced the academic history and subject construction of KoGuan. The Oxford team highly appreciated the achievements of KoGuan in talent cultivation and academic research. Both sides reached consensus on academic cooperation and conducted in-depth discussions on research areas of common interest.

On May 24th, the visiting team paid a visit to Cambridge University Press where they met with Chris Harrison, head of the Cambridge Press, and Rebecca Rourke, executive publisher of journals. During the friendly exchange, both sides discussed their existing cooperation and explored opportunities for further collaboration in the future.

On May 25th, the visiting team arrived at UCL Faculty of Law and received a warm welcome. They had a productive meeting with Professor Eloise Scotford, Dean of UCL Faculty of Law, Associate Professor Gracia Marin Duran, Vice Dean of International Affairs, and others. Both sides expressed a strong willingness to strengthen academic cooperation.

To establish a cooperative and interactive platform for talented students to exchange experience and opinions, the visiting team held two forums for Chinese youth studying in the UK from law schools of Oxford University and Cambridge University respectively. The forums discussed topics such as academic research hotspots, career growth, and employment environment. The KoGuan team responded to the confusion, expectations, and questions raised by the young students. The atmosphere of the forum was relaxed and harmonious.

This trip was the first overseas visit of the leadership team from KoGuan after the COVID pandemic. The visit enhanced the friendly relations between KoGuan School of Law and top British universities and institutions, including Oxford University, UCL and Cambridge Press. It opened up a new chapter in international cooperation and provided a high-level international platform for the legal talent cultivation of KoGuan School of Law.
