
On September 3rd, SJTU President Lin Zhongqin visited KoGuan School of Law. President's Lin's visit was accompanied by Zhou Cheng (Deputy Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee and Secretary of the CPC SJTU Commission for Discipline Inspection), and directors of the Graduate School, Division of Human Resources, Division for Development of Liberal Arts, Office of Strategic Planning, and other related SJTU departments. The dean's office of KoGuan School of Law, directors of the secondary disciplines, and academic and student representatives attended this symposium.


Professor Kong Xiangjun (Dean of KoGuan School of Law) introduced the current development and future goals of KoGuan School of Law, including Party building, faculty development, discipline development, talent cultivation and international cooperation. He analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by the law school, and reported to President Lin on the bottlenecks faced by the law school and the support required from SJTU. Professor Peng Chengxin and Professor Jiang Hongzhen (Vice Deans of KoGuan School of Law), respectively reported on the strategic plans governing academic discipline development and talent cultivation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

President Lin spoke highly of the law school's work and achievements. He pointed out that building a first-class law discipline and cultivating legal talent is an important part of the University, and serves the county's major strategic needs of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. He emphasized that SJTU will continue to support the development of the law school.
In addition, President Lin stressed that KoGuan School of Law should capitalize on the current strong development momentum, and continue to push towards new heights. He put forward four requirements for the school's further development. Firstly, we must continue strengthen the effectiveness and cohesion of the school’s leadership team. Secondly, we should attach greater importance to cultural progress. Thirdly, we should further improve the quality of talent cultivation. And finally, we should continue to pay greater attention to discipline construction. We ought to give full play to the advantages of SJTU as a comprehensive university, and its unique location in Shanghai and on the Yangtze River Delta.
Wang Houji (Secretary of the CPC of KoGuan School of Law) who presided over the symposium expressed gratitude to the SJTU departments for their long-term care and support, and made a statement on behalf of the law school.
