Dear students，

I hope that you’ve had time to reflect a little bit on everything you have achieved that makes it possible for you to join the KoGuan School of Law. But even more importantly, to imagine what you are going to achieve at the KoGuan School of Law in the coming phase of your life.

亲爱的同学们，

    在开学典礼前，我希望你们已经拿出些许时间作了片刻思忖：是迄今为止的什么成就，让你们能成为凯原法学院的一员；但更重要的是，在即将开始的人生篇章里，在这里，你们准备取得什么新的成就，你们能够取得什么新的成就。

This is my fourth year to teach the internet and technology law for the LL.M program. The past one and a half year was difficult for all of us. But I am deeply impressed by the ability of each of our international students to adapt, to change, to embrace online learning in the pandemic and to juggle with their professional and personal life, and to do so with grace, and even more than that, with good humor.

    今年是我在上海交通大学执教“网络与科技法”的第四年。过去的一年半对我们所有人来说都是艰难的。尽管如此，我仍旧欣喜的看到，几乎每一位国际学生都能展现出一种在疫情中迅速适应网络教学、以及在专业学习和个人生活之间精巧地保持动态平衡的能力——优雅的，甚至带着一种上乘的幽默感。

Appian ways always shine with optimism. I trust that you guys are going to make a very special community. When we enter the on-line classroom for each session of the lectures and seminars, despite the different time zones of our locations on the globe - this is our time, this is our land. A good proof, that the eagerness to learn and to share, and the intellectuality of human beings do have the power to cross each national boarder and to break every kind of wall.

    烽火之路永远闪烁着乐天之光。尽管你们今天散布在天涯海角，但我相信你们仍能结为一个特别的集体。尽管我们身处不同的时区，不同的辖区，但每当我们一起进入网络课堂的虚拟教室，此刻就是我们共同的时间，此地就是我们共同的家园。人类的智慧与求知的愿望，分享与分担的情操，可以跨越所有国境，可以穿透所有墙篱！

Dear students,

I wish you a special and fruitful time at the KoGuan School of Law. Please use your hot blood for the art, your cool brain for the science, and both of that for the law as a combination of each. As Professor Shi Hu has established, “hypothesize bravely and testify cautiously”, please do not always trust the media, and bear on mind that only the solid research empowered on the hard working could lead you to the wisdom, free of any kind of manipulations.

    亲爱的同学们，愿你们在凯原法学院度过一段与众不同、果实累累的时光。热血的激情最喜欢艺术，冷静的头脑最喜欢科学。法学兼具艺术与科学的特质，它需要你们的冷与热，你们的心与血。在这个特殊的时间里，请不要轻信媒体的言说，不要忘记，“大胆假设、小心求证”——正如胡适先生所说的那样，只有精进、刻苦，一步一个脚印的研究与探索，才能引领你们到达智慧的彼岸，拥有一种不受任何摆布的力量。
