Mao Xiao, a 2016 graduate from KoGuan School of Law of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has been successfully selected by the International Court of Justice to participate in the Judicial Fellowship Program for 2021-2022. She will work as the judicial fellow for of H. E. Xue Hanqin, Judge of the International Court of Justice.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), located in the Hague (the Netherlands), was established in June 1945. It is the principal judicial organ among the six principal organs of the United Nations and the only international court with general jurisdiction. The Judicial Fellowship Program, established in 1999, was intended to offer internship opportunities to outstanding law students from all over the world. No more than 15 students worldwide can be selected each year. The applicants are required to be fluent in at least one of the working languages of the Court (English or French), and to have excellent results in their studies and sufficient experience in international law research.

Mao Xiao graduated from KoGuan School of Law with a bachelor's degree in 2016. She was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship in 2017 and is currently pursuing Dphil in international law at the University of Oxford. In the Spring Semester of 2021, Mao Xiao was invited to return to China as a visiting scholar at KoGuan School of Law. During this period, with the support of Professor Xu Xiaobing who was her supervisor for her undergraduate study, Shanghai Jiao Tong University nominated and funded Mao Xiao to apply for the Judicial Fellowship Program of the International Court of Justice, and finally, she was successfully selected.
