On 27 October, a presentation on the Joint Doctoral Program with the City University of Hong Kong School of Law was held. Associate Professor Ding Chunyan (Associate Dean of the City University of Hong Kong School of Law), Dr. Lin Fen from CityU's Graduate School, Professor Hou Liyang (Assistant Dean of Koguan School of Law), attended the meeting with more than 20 PhD and Master students from the KoGuan School of Law.
Dr. Lin Fen from CityU's Graduate School briefly introduced the CityU School of Law Joint Doctoral Degree Program, which is open to all KoGuan School of Law PhD candidates. Lin also briefly introduced CityU and its academic resources, including CityU's College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Engineering.
Professor Ding from CityU's School of Law discussed the School of Law in great detail, speaking to the minimum application requirements, project structure, project time, and tutor system of the Joint Doctoral Program.
Finally, the floor was opened to current students to asked questions and enquire on the Joint Doctoral Program's specifics. CityU academics answered their questions, and covered scholarships, accommodation and other information.
The KoGuan School of Law has been vigorously promoting joint doctoral degrees and dual doctoral training programs in recent years, and this presentation has highlighted how joint doctoral programs can be an effective mechanism to attract doctoral candidates and research talent.
