On March 31, 2010, Professor Patrick A. Randolph from University Of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law gave a lecture on "American Real Estate Law and Practice" in SJTU KoGuan Law School. Associate Professor Xu Duoqi, Finesse Law Group Partner Mr. Steve Yudong Zhao and some KoGuan graduate law students attended the event. Assistant Dean Xu Xiaobing hosted the lecture.

Professor Randolph discussed the US regulations in Real Estate possession, use, lease, transfer and the boundary of government restrictions on personal property. He used a number of cases to illustrate and from time to time pointed out the differences between American, Chinese and European property regulations.

After the lecture, Professor Randolph took some time to introduce the UMKC Law School and discussed the opportunities to study in UMKC with interested KoGuan law students.

Professor Randolph received his B.A. from Yale University in 1966 and his J.D. in 1969 from the University of California at Berkeley where he was a Special Projects editor of the California Law Review. From 1969 to 1970, Professor Randolph served as law clerk to Chief Justice Kenneth J. O'Connell of the Oregon Supreme Court. He joined the UMKC Law School faculty in 1980. Realtor Magazine has named Professor Randolph one of the twenty-five most influential people in American Real Estate Law, the only academic selected for this recognition. He published Friedman on Leases (3 vols., 5th ed., Practising Law Institute, 2004) and Property: Cases and Statutes (w. Bernhardt & Palomar, 2nd ed., Carolina Academic Press, 2009).
