Recently, the British QS Education Group released the 2018 World University Rankings. In the legal field, Shanghai Jiaotong University entered the world's top 100 for the seventh consecutive year. According to the English initials of the school, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, and Shanghai Jiaotong University are in the 51-100 range. According to the statistical analysis of specific data, Shanghai Jiaotong University scored about 56~58 in the world, ranking third in universities in mainland China (Peking University 21, Tsinghua University 33). So far, only three universities of the mainland China have entered the top 100 legal disciplines of the QS World University for more than five years, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
It is reported that the QS subject ranking covers 48 disciplines in five major fields, and evaluates more than 1,100 universities in 151 countries around the world. The results come from 75,015 global authoritative scholars' comprehensive assessment of the disciplines, 40,455 comprehensive evaluation questionnaire from top employers on the global employment competitiveness of college graduates, and analysis of 22 million academic literature and 200 million citation data in Scopus, the largest abstract database. The subject is comprehensively evaluated in four aspects: the professional evaluation and recognition of the world's top experts and scholars, the evaluation and recognition of graduates in the world's top employers, “all references” in the world's largest paper citation database SCOPUS and “highly cited index” in the discipline in nearly 5 years. At present, QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities are recognized as the world's three most influential global university rankings.
