Center for Competition Law and Policy

Center for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) is an interdisciplinary research institute at KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Founded in 2010, its purpose is to promote understanding, research, and enforcement of competition law and policy. CCLP has a professional team composed of the faculty and Ph.D. candidates from KoGuan law school and adjunct members from academic institutes, law firms, courts and multinational companies. The Center aims, among other things, to: (1) sponsor and conduct legal and empirical research in the field of competition law, including its private enforcement; (2) organize seminars, symposia, conferences, innovative courses, and public lectures for judges, executive officials, academics, practicing lawyers, and law students on topics relating to competition law and policy; (3) serve as a resource for those seeking to promote enforcement in competition laws in China.

Honorary Chairman: Wang Xiaoye

Wang Xiaoye is Professor and Director of Economic Law Department of the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. As the leading expert in the field of antitrust law in China, she is advisor of the Drafting Committee of China’s Antimonopoly Law and lectured twice for the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress. She has served as Vice President of National Economic Law Research Association of China, and the head of the Consultant Committee for WTO Trade and Competition Policy of Ministry of Commerce. In international academic activities, she is a founding member of Academic Society for Competition Law (“ASCOLA”) and of the Asia Competition Forum (”ACF”) and member of International Advisory Board of the CUTS C-CIER. She has lectured on Chinese law at ABA, IBA, IPBA, ACF, Harvard University, Columbia University, Washington University (St. Louis), New York University, KFTC, Chatham House, LIDC, Max-Planck Institutes and many other institutions.

Director: Professor WANG Xianlin

Professor Wang Xianlin is Associate Dean of KoGuan Law School and well-known competition law expert in China. He is an advisor for the Drafting Committee of China’s Antimonopoly Law and a member of Consultant Committee for WTO Trade and Competition Policy of Ministry of Commerce. Since 2000, he has been in charge of more than 10 national or provincial research projects, including projects funded by National Social Science Planning Fund, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Soft Science, and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. He has received several provincial awards for his outstanding achievements in teaching and research. In 2002 and 2010, he won twice the nomination of the "National Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Jurist". In 2004, he was awarded the title of "National Exemplary Teacher". In 2009, he was one of the winners of the "Shanghai Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Jurist".

Associate Director: Associate Professor LI Jian

Associate Professor LI Jian is one of the most promising young scholars in competition law and Law & Economics in China. He has published more than thirty articles in top academic journals in China, such as Modern Law Science, Studies in Law and Business and Peking University Law Review. Most of them were reproduced by core citation index journals. In addition, he was rewarded and recognized by the Justice of Department and the China law society many times.

Associate Professor: Hou Liyang

Liyang Hou is an associate professor at KoGuan Law School. He holds a doctor in law from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). His current research interest focuses primarily on competition and regulation issues relating to the telecommunications sector. He has published regularly in leading journals, such as European Competition Law Review, World Competition and European Competition Journal. He was a recipient of the 2009 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad.
