Yan LIN received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from East China University of Political Science and Law. In 2006, he graduated from University of Wisconsin Law School with M.L.I. and S.J.D. degrees. He teaches Chinese Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, and Legislation.
His principal research interests include constitutional review mechanism, the National People's Congress, and the legislative power. His articles have appeared in International Journal of Constitutional Law, American Journal of Comparative Law and other top law journals in China. Professor LIN has poineered several research projects supported by both Shanghai Municipal Government and the national government. He is also a member of the Scientific Board of the Constitutional Law Review of Romania. In 2016, Prof. LIN was awarded the Hessel Yntema Prize for Best Article for a scholar under 40 by the American Society of Comparative Law.
